PISTOIA – A committee of associations made up of Adiconsum, Adp, Abio, Aisla, Aism, Anmic, Calcit, Federconsumatori, Spalti, Uic, Uilmd, met in Piazza San Francesco, in front of the Parterre, where at the moment the disabled do not have access , to define a useful path for the entire Pistoia community and beyond, for the elimination of architectural, sensorial and communication barriers.

The elimination of architectural barriers represents an inevitable step for inclusion but also and above all a general improvement in terms of liveability of the city as well as bringing other benefits, such as the accessibility of offices, clinics, public places, commercial establishments, gardens, tourist and cultural activities.

In fact, these barriers are, first and foremost, a serious obstacle for people with disabilities, but also for all citizens in different and multiple stages of life, such as: pregnancy, parents with prams and strollers, elderly people. The elimination of barriers therefore improves liveability and increases interest in the city on multiple levels.

For this reason they propose themselves as interlocutors and partners with the various trade associations (associations of traders, craftsmen, order of architects, order of surveyors, ecclesiastical authorities, etc.) but above all with the municipal and provincial administrations, which they ask to convene us to formalize a permanent table aimed at identifying the critical issues indicated above and creating a sensitive and cohesive community to try to overcome them.
This synergy can lead to innovative and sustainable solutions that will benefit the entire community.

“We want to put – states Matteo Pepe of Anmic, who acts as spokesperson for the group – the person at the centre. We would like to be able to set up a permanent table to report the problems and shortcomings relating to various disabilities, collaborating with private and public bodies to make the city inclusive, confident that together we will be able to do a good job at the service of the citizens and all citizens”.
