The smell of salt, the cry of seagulls in flight and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore will be the idyllic setting for the first edition of the event, promoted by the association of traders of Via della Torre Clementina and Centro Storico, with sponsored by the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Fiumicino and organized by the RistorAgency, which will involve the general public for two evenings by the sea entirely dedicated to good food, Lazio wine, art and live music. La Via del Gusto – Wine, food, art and music in the street, this is the name of the event scheduled in Fiumicino in via della Torre Clementina and piazza Grassi on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June 2024 (6pm/midnight), it will open its doors to the summer season involving practically all the restaurants in the street in a real tasting journey in stages with tastings from the restaurants combined with excellent glasses of wine (but there is also a craft beer), strictly from Lazio.

The Via del Gusto will therefore be a great widespread event, which will give all participants the opportunity, upon purchase of the “kit” including glass, special pocket and tokens for tastings (15 euros), to walk through a real and indeed a “food district”, for a tasting to be enjoyed together with family and friends, in an atmosphere of conviviality and carefreeness with an eye towards the sunset and the sea, accompanied by background music.

The event will open with the classic ribbon-cutting ceremony, in the presence of the mayor of Fiumicino Mario Baccini, the councilor for sport and culture Federica Poggio and the councilor for commerce and productive activities Raffaello Biselli.

“We are thrilled to present the first edition of ‘La via del gusto’, an event that celebrates the best of our food and wine tradition – declared the mayor Mario Baccini – A strategic event that does not just represent an opportunity to taste excellent wines and foods , but also a way to enhance local restaurant activities and promote culture and art in our community. We expect a large turnout and invite all citizens and tourists to participate.”

Councilor Biselli is on the same line. “The main objective of ‘La via del gusto’ is to promote the restaurant activities of Fiumicino. In a period in which the restaurant sector has faced many challenges, events like this are fundamental to support businesses and attract visitors. We are particularly proud of the innovative and itinerant format of this event – continues Biselli – and thanks to the coupling between restaurateurs and wineries, we guarantee a dynamic and varied experience for participants, who will be able to discover new combinations of flavors and appreciate art and music along the way.”

There will be 54 businesses involved in the event: 27 catering businesses (including restaurants, bistros, taverns, pizzerias, bars and pastry shops), 26 wineries and 1 brewery. Along the street, from 6.00pm to 12.00am, the special gazebos set up for the occasion will therefore offer customers small tastings of their most iconic dishes, as well as wines from the associated companies, coming from all over Lazio, in an ideal “pairing”. These food-wine pairings will also continue in participating restaurants, for both days. “We thought we’d organize an event that would promote not only our restaurants, but all the restaurant businesses on the street, from the tower to the pier, without excluding anyone.” The promoters of the event and owners of the Follis and Cielo restaurants explain – “Via della Torre Clementina represents a unicum, not only for Fiumicino, and this is the right opportunity to enhance it and make it known even more. We thank Fabio Carnevali and Stefano Albano for helping us organize the event in the best possible way.”
