‘From Margherita‘ is a consolidated event, we appreciated in the last edition a rich program which gave rise to important participation. The goal between now and the end of the administration is to make this event longer and longer, possibly until the end of the year. I am not joking! We want Villa Margherita to always be so alive not only these days, but throughout the year.” This is the declaration of intent of Mayor of Catanzaro, Nicola Fioritawhich took place this morning during the presentation of the VI edition of “Da Margherita“, a colorful review of various events including book presentations, open-air cinema, concerts and exhibition initiatives that will take place from 18 to 27 June in Villa Trieste (in the past also called Villa Margherita), promoted in partnership with the Municipality of Catanzaro.

During the press conference to present the initiative, which took place in the concert hall of Palazzo de Nobili, Antonio Borelli, councilor for Economic Activities, Tourism, Heritage and Territorial Marketing, also spoke alongside the Mayor; Antonella Mancuso, president of the committee for female entrepreneurship of the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia; Vincenzo Nocita, president of the “Da Margherita” association; Roberto Rizza, founder of the “Da Margherita” exhibition.

Mayor Nicola Fiorita also wanted to highlight how only “yesterday we were here to present the comics festival. And today we will already meet at the Politeama for the Award for Mediterranean Culture of the Carical Foundation and then at the Casalinuovo Auditorium for the Ceravolo Award. This morning, again, we present a very important review, that of ‘Da Margherita’. In short, we host important events aimed at a different audience, paying particular attention to the young public. With this initiative in Villa Trieste we have the ambition of making Villa Margherita enjoyable all year round, not just during these days: this is the meaning of the projects that will start with this perspective. We are very happy as an administration to give continuity to a project that started many years ago, which is truly qualifying for the historic center and for our city”.

The Councilor for Economic Activities, Tourism, Heritage and Territorial Marketing Antonio Borelli in turn noted how “this event wanted to reveal itself with a name that recalls the history of the place in which it will take place, but not only that, because it also wants lead to an identification of the future of this place, so that this can be a place not only visited but rather also experienced in its daily life. Probably in this strength to connect not only the inhabitants of the centre, but all those who want to rediscover it, there is perhaps also the desire to rediscover this city more generally, which in its interior is made up of green spaces and natural parks really full.”

The President of the committee for female entrepreneurship of the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia, Antonella Mancuso, declared: “Never before has the Chamber of Commerce wanted to stand alongside the administration and all those bodies and companies that promote festivals and cultural and quality events that can graft into the historic center, but also around the whole city, those social relations, that conviviality and that economic graft capable of bringing to fruition all the work and sacrifices that are made by these bodies, in fact, and by these administrations. The goal is to bring wealth and new people to the historic center, as well as elevate the city’s economy. In this sense the Chamber of Commerce has taken a path, namely that of financing, with a newly published tender, all recreational events that can bring economic income and people to the city, up to 15,000 euros”. For 40%, as a maximum limit, we refer to expenses incurred to implement promotional-advertising action programs intended to amplify the visibility and tourist attractiveness of the event at a regional, national and/or international level. The overall initial allocation is 50,000 euros. “We therefore invite all businesses, bodies and associations to ask us for contributions, given that we are on their side to unite and share projects that can do good for the city”.

Vincenzo Nocita, president of the ‘Da Margherita’ association, stated how “the ‘Da Margherita’ association is in its sixth event, despite having ten years of seniority. This is due to business interruptions related to the pandemic. Thanks to a dialogue started with the current administration already last year, the event has restarted, and the philosophy is, first of all, to revive the place of Villa Margherita to which we are linked and then, again, the objective is that of making this place known to the new generations, who are not used to frequenting it. Furthermore, we know the value that all this has from both a social and economic perspective. From a social point of view, we are gratified by the fact that many associations in the area approached us for an attractive collaboration during the event. But we also believe that the contents that the initiative expresses are of a high level: for this reason this year it was decided to expand the offer, increasing the days. Furthermore, we hope that it will also become a tourist attraction for the area, also attracting people from outside the city. The objectives we have set ourselves are therefore these: we have put our utmost effort into them. We believe that the event is growing year after year, and we hope it continues like this.”

Roberto Rizza, founder of the ‘Da Margherita’ exhibition, also added that there was “the aim of relaunching this space. Villa Trieste is in the common imagination of associations that want to organize something, so the objective has been achieved. The importance of this review, however, wants to go beyond these 10 days. We want this event to grow more and more. We understand that it is not the subject of discussion, because it is widely shared, both by this and the previous administration”.
