The Caserta State Police conducted an in-depth investigation to identify those responsible for an episode of violence that occurred after the football match between Casertana and Catania last October.

During the journey towards the motorway, some Catania fans blocked the road by stopping their minivans in the center of the road, interrupting the flow of traffic. Subsequently, they got out of the vehicles and damaged the cars of passing motorists using clubs and sticks. Fortunately, the rapid intervention of the Police Force prevented the situation from worsening further.

Thanks to the analysis of the videos that recorded the incident, DIGOS managed to identify two Catania fans, who were reported for various crimes, including threats and unjustified possession of blunt objects during a sporting event.

Furthermore, thanks to the investigation by the Anti-Crime Division, the Caserta Police Commissioner, Andrea Grassi, issued a “daspo” to both fans for a total period of 12 years. This means that they will not be able to access any sports facility where Catania matches are held, as well as football teams from the “Promotion” to the “Serie A”, both in the Italian and international championships.

One of the two fans, already the recipient of a similar provision in the past, also has the obligation to present himself at the Catania Police Headquarters during the team’s matches.
