The students on the team of the Luigi Bucci Professional Technical Institute of Faenza have returned from Shell Eco-marathon,historic competition dedicated toinnovation and to sustainable mobility, which took place in Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogarò, France. The team Faenza ITI Racingunable to participate last year due to the floods that hit Emilia-Romagna, obtained the fifth place in the Urban Concept – Internal Combustion Engine category.

The competition saw 110 teams from high schools and international universities from 25 countries around the world compete in the categories“Prototype” and “Urban Concept”consisting of 10 laps of the circuit, for a total distance of 16 km, to be covered in a maximum time of 38 minutes with the lowest possible fuel consumption.

In particular, the students of ITIP Bucci of Faenza competed in the two categories with two carbon vehicles: the first, Novato endothermic conduction, which managed to travel 131.7 km per liter of petrol, gaining 5th position; and the second, FABIto electrical conductionmanaged to cover 219.4 miles per kWh of electricity, finishing 17th in the dedicated race.

“Participating in the 2024 edition of the Shell Eco Marathon was a great revenge and a unique opportunity for the students of our team, in particular following last year, in which the flood that hit Faenza and Emilia-Romagna precluded us from participating.” – declared the teacher Vincenzo Mallamaci, project manager for ITIP BucciThe kids honored our Institute, a historic participant in the Shell Eco-Marathon, and competed by applying their skills, with passion and enthusiasm.”
