She is accused of acts of physical and psychological violence against an elderly man from Agrigento, to whom she provided assistance as a carer, subjecting him to habitual suffering and humiliation such as to cause him continuous discomfort and incompatible with tolerable living conditions. The staff of the Agrigento Flying Squad executed the precautionary custody order in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Agrigento against a 63-year-old from Agrigento, investigated for the crime of aggravated mistreatment.
The investigation began in recent days when the elderly man’s children showed up at the Agrigento Police Headquarters to report the mistreatment suffered by their father at the hands of the caregiver. The family members said that, due to the infirmity of their elderly father, suffering from senile dementia and no longer able to walk, they had hired the woman, also pointing out that for some time they had noticed that the parent had visible bruises on his body. .
The circumstance had also been noted by another caregiver of the elderly man who had raised suspicions against her colleague due to the injuries she had found on several occasions.
Faced with this, the Mobile policemen, authorized by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Agrigento, urgently started a technical activity of audio and video interception in the pensioner’s home, managing to find that the arrested caregiver used to beat the elderly man repeatedly, forcefully jerking him, scratching him and slapping him on the head, face and other parts of the body, also punching him on the face.
On other occasions he insulted and intimidated him, often with the aim of forcing him to sleep; she mocked him by imitating his constant cries of pain and his moans, enjoying her pain; she wished him death; she jerked him forcefully causing injuries to his private parts; she administered drugs in drops which she diluted in glasses of water which the man was forced to drink. At the end of the ritual formalities, the Flying Squad policemen took the woman to the “Pasquale Di Lorenzo” women’s prison.
