MODENA – He was 41 years old, with two degrees, one in Medicine and one in Dentistry and was specializing in Radiology. She had two small children, aged 3 and 4, Anna Sviridenko. She was killed by her husband, who put her body in the van and presented himself to the police: “I killed her”. Modena is in shock, friends and colleagues mourn the esteemed and loved professional of Russian origins, who fought for her children by traveling a thousand kilometers between Innsbruck, where she moved after the separation, and Emilia every week. Relations were tense over custody of her children. “She was scared” says a friend of hers, she took the children to her father to avoid the clash. Her neighbors in San Felice sul Panaro remember her as a woman dedicated to work, tireless and who gave everything for her children.
The husband from whom she had separated, Andrea Paltrinieri, 48 years old, resident of the city, will be questioned today. A bouquet of flowers appeared in front of the gate of the police station. For Anna.
The doctor, who worked in a clinic in Austria, had two degrees, in Medicine and Dentistry, and had won the competition for specialization in Radiology at the Modena polyclinic. The rector of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia Carlo Adolfo Porro speaks of a “devastated community” and “unbearable pain”. He announces that the university will become a civil party in the trial, while today, June 12, he had the flags of the university buildings flown at half-mast.
“It is really difficult to find the right words to comment on such a tragic fact but we must strive to find them and all unite in an embrace of Anna and her children and the drama that her family, her friends and her colleagues are experiencing in these hours – comment the general director, Claudio Vagniniand the director of the Integrated Radiology Department, Pietro Torricelli – What happened is frightening, a tragedy that shook all the staff not only of the Polyclinic, where Anna carried out her specialization, but of the entire company. On behalf of all our colleagues we want to strongly condemn this appalling and cowardly act of violence which has shattered a life and destroyed an entire family.”
“Anger and pain”
In the village, in San Felice sul Panaro where Anna Sviridenko lived, the flags are at half-mast. “It is heartbreaking to think of a broken life, of the two young children who will be left without a mother and of the frightening void that family and friends will suffer – says the mayor Michele Goldoni -As an administration we have always been very committed to the issue of domestic violence and femicide, because we are aware, unfortunately, that there is still a lot to do in this field. Today we mourn Anna who lived in our community, who some of us knew and appreciated, a brilliant young woman who will not be able to see her children grow up. It is difficult to express the dismay, anger and pain that we all feel: this will push us to work even harder to work on prevention and to spread a culture of respect”.
Condolences spread across social media. Friends are shocked: “The young woman barbarically killed has been our family friend for over twenty years, as well as a neighbor. My family, I and the neighbors are devastated.”
