A ceremony is scheduled to take place on 20 June 2024 at 12.00 at the Arezzo Municipal Police Station, in Piazza Guido Monaco 8/b, on the occasion of the donation of a defibrillator by the Arezzo Host Lions Club and the Lions Club Arezzo Patron in favor of the Municipality of Arezzo and its population.
On the occasion of the ceremony, the first public defibrillation station in the center of Arezzo will be inaugurated within the Municipal Police Station, which constitutes a concrete example of community policing, where the AED will be positioned. This is a concrete way for us all to be closer to the needs of the citizens of Arezzo.
The station, equipped with an alarmed display case and set up to ensure the best temperature conditions, will be equipped with a semi-automatic AED defibrillator which can therefore be available in case of need. This is a truly central point in Arezzo, in Piazza Guido Monaco a few steps from the main arteries of the city centre, near the bus terminus and along the crossing road used by students to reach schools, as well as on the main axis of traffic for citizens, tourists and foreigners passing through Arezzo, who every day cross in front of the Municipal Police Station in Piazza Guido Monaco.
The inaugural event will be attended by the heads of the Municipal Administration, starting with the Mayor Alessandro Ghinelli and the Deputy Mayor Lucia Tanti, as well as the Commander of the Municipal Police Aldo Poponcini and the Deputy Commander Massimo Milloni, together with the managers of the 118 of Arezzo and the Presidents of the Lions Club of Arezzo Franco Pagliucoli and Alessia Biasella.
The DAE column will also be registered in the cartographic database of the Arezzo 118 Operations Centre.
The installation of the DAE public station in Piazza Guido Monaco is part of the broader inter-institutional collaboration project between public and private entities, making the principle of horizontal subsidiarity capable of ensuring the pursuit of a common interest for both concrete and current, i.e. the general interest.
The aim of the project is to contribute even more to the fight against sudden cardiac death which affects over 70,000 people in Italy every year.
The presence of an office of the Municipal Police of Arezzo – declares the President of the Lions Club Arezzo Host Franco Pagliucoli – located right in the city centre, offers us the opportunity as Lions to be attentive to the needs of our community. The President of the Lions Mecenate, Alessia Biasella, as a doctor, highlighted that over 80% of cardiac arrests at home, in public offices, on the streets and at work occur without warning signs, which is why it is important to contribute to the spread of semi-automatic defibrillators which, exempting them from diagnosis, they can be used by anyone who has received a simple training activity. In the event of cardiac arrest, intervention in the first few minutes is essential: having an AED defibrillator immediately available is truly essential.
The inaugural event is open to all interested citizens.
