A romantic relationship between two intersex people (that is, with both male and female sexual characteristics) ended up in a courtroom in Turin. Repubblica reports that a relationship began between the two in 2019, which lasted only a few months. Then one of the two, a musician, reported the other, a teacher, for sexual assault, claiming that the rape occurred at the Teatro Regio in Turin during the opera Madame Butterfly. But the public prosecutor Laura Ruffino overturned the accusation, transforming it into stalking and slander for the accuser. Yesterday the accused defended herself before the judge. The story began when she contacted her teacher, threatening to get her into trouble if she didn’t meet her for a final clarification. And a few months later she reported her for rape.
«You better get in touch with me»
“You better get in touch with me otherwise something very bad will happen to you, at work and with your career”, is one of the messages sent by the accused to the teacher. And again: «Unfortunately, if we don’t find a dialogue, the accusations that I will make against you will ruin your career and I refer to a specific episode: January 11th», that is, the date on which they went to the Regio. «It was my birthday and attending the show was a gift for me. She had booked a box for just the two of us. During a break, she was seized by an erotic fit,” explained the accused. Who confirmed that she too had an active role in that relationship, despite the discomfort expressed about the “unsuitable” position.
The HIV test
The musician claimed to have tried to meet the teacher after a home test for HIV which came back positive: “I had calculated the window period and I believed that she should be informed because we had had unprotected intercourse,” she said. The prosecutor accused her of not having gone to a doctor, until after almost two years, and of having written to mutual friends that she had been infected by her ex, defaming her. Also because the test “later turned out to be a false positive”.
