Tennis, youth tournament Coach Massa Lombarda: all the winners

Seventy-six grass rackets met on the courts of the Massa Lombarda Tennis Club for the “Fiordiprimi” trophy, a traditional youth event under 10-12-14, male and female, category A stage of the regional circuit, with numerous boys from the local nursery and Romagna clubs.

Starting from the youngest, the Under 10 men’s team saw the success of Tommaso Cavassi (Ten Sport Center Pinarella), who he defeated in the semi-final 6-3. 6-1 Stefano Scotto di Gregorio (Tc Faenza) and in the key match he prevailed 7-5, 6-2 over Alessandro Pinto (Tennis Villa Carpena), who qualified for the final by beating 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 Patrick Balc (Tennix Training Team).

In the corresponding women’s competition victory by Lucia Tarlazzi (Tc Faenza), who beat Giulia Oddone (Persiceto Tennis Center) by 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinal and then completed her clear path by prevailing 7-5, 7-6 (1) over Giorgia Rombi (Ct Bagnacavallo), who in the previous round had won the “derby” with her teammate Alessia Sofia Badea 6-3, 6-4.

No surprises on the scoreboard Under 12 men’s, where Lorenzo Orselli fully respected his role as the main favourite: in the semi-final the 3.5 of the coach Zavaglia Ravenna beat Tommaso Monti (Tc Faenza) 6-3, 6-1 and in the final act he settled 6-4, 6 -3 Alessandro Teodorani, young standard bearer of the organizing club, to whom the referee Roberto Montesi (match director Nicola Gualanduzzi) had assigned the second seed. Teodorani had qualified for the final by coming from behind, with a score of 2-6, 7-5, 11-9, over teammate Elia Naldi.

In the women’s Under 12 Caterina Cova (Tc Faenza), n.1 seeding, beat her teammate, Nema Dione, 6-3 6-0 in the semifinal and prevailed 3-6, 6-2, 10 in the match for the trophy. -5 on Giulia Scheda (Ct Cacciari), who in turn had eliminated Sofia Valentini (Ct Bologna), second seed, 6-1, 6-2.

A young athlete from the Faenza academy also hit the mark among the Under 14. This is Ian Catallo, the second force of the tournament, who defeated Nicola Papageorgiou (Asbi Imola) 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-final and was able to comeback in the final, prevailing 4-6, 6-2, 10-6. Samuel Cavallini, arrived in the last act due to the forfeit of Aaron Banzi (Cus Ferrara), who in the quarterfinals had surprisingly ousted the “host” Cesare Biondi, n.1 in the seeding.

In the feminine affirmation of Gaia Farolfi (Centro Tennis Argenta), who in the semifinal defeated Miriam Samorì (Tc Faenza), n.2 on the scoreboard, 6-4, 6-2, and then repeated herself in the key match, overcoming 6-3, 6-0 Lucrezia Vanni, first seed, who in the other semi-final had stopped Eileen Magnani (Circolo Tennis Massa Lombarda) 6-1, 6-2. The awards were given by manager Fulvio Campomori, who on behalf of the Council expressed “satisfaction for having managed to play all the scheduled matches”.

Summer camp

The youth activity (from 3 to 14 years old) in the facilities in via Fornace di Sopra now continues with the summer tennis and padel camp called “Sport Games 2024” in the garden and in the spaces of the Tennis Club. A real summer recreational centre, starting on June 10th and scheduled until September 13th (with a two-week break from 12 August): from Monday to Friday (from 7.30 to 17.30) outdoor sporting activities, games and entertainment, in any weather condition thanks to the covered structures available at the club, to make people live and spend a unique and fun experience for all the kids, constantly followed by a staff made up of qualified instructors under the supervision of Matteo Versari, national Fit master. There are weekly or even daily quotas. Furthermore, the summer center has joined the “Work-Life Conciliation Project”, promoted by the Emilia Romagna Region and aimed at children and young people aged between 3 and 13, which provides a contribution to families for participants in the summer center in way to reduce the fees.

It will be a summer full of fun: the kids will try their hand at various activities, from tennis to padel, from pickleball to ping pong, without forgetting the exciting weekly visit to the AcquaJoss park. Between one sporting activity and another, everyone will be offered a snack, as well as the possibility – for those who wish – to have lunch at the club.
