There is a fire warning due to the heat wave

A heat wave that puts the island on fire alert. Sicily must prepare for highs of up to 40 degrees and for prevention.

The forecasts and heat waves expected in the coming days are causing attention to shift Sicily on the fire alert. In these hours the civil protection has published a warning due to these risks, which will become valid from midnight today 11 June, with the spotlight on Palermo. In fact, in the capital the alert is orange, with temperatures expected up to 31 degrees. But the provinces of Trapani and Messina will also be monitored in the next 24 hours. Medium alert level for the rest of the Sicilian provinces.

But it will be the Sicilian hinterland that will see the highest temperature peaks, with maximums expected up to 38-40 degrees. From tomorrow also some coastal cities such as Syracuse and Catania they will see temperatures rise dramatically. Then from the weekend the sky will be covered with that gray patina and it will be the time of humid heat arriving from Africa with the anticyclone that will bring masses of hot air to the island.

Meanwhile, the fire prevention plan in Sicily already started last May, to avoid other disasters like that of 2023, when the Region found itself totally unprepared for the fire emergency.
