On the sidelines of the press conference of the Spriamoli Insieme project which effectively launches Participatory Democracy in Agrigento, the councilor for social services Marco Vullo expressed satisfaction at having completed, after exhausting work, a successful and inclusive path which will have as central hub of civic and inclusion project activities presented directly by citizens.
“In the press conference I explained this very important initiative together with the designers and all the actors involved. We move on to the operational phase of the Spriamoli Insieme project which will soon see the publication of the Notice on proposals for democracy participated directly by the citizens of Agrigento. After managing to change the regulation on Participatory Democracy based on my policy, the city council approved the request in December which is seeing the light today.”
“The Speriamoli Insieme project is already ready and has temporally defined steps – continues Vullo -. In fact, the Notice will be published on the institutional website on 30 June. From that moment on, associations and residents of Agrigento will be able to present feasible proposals for our territory online through a platform. A commission will evaluate the admissibility of the proposal and then those admitted will be voted directly by citizens on the platform”.
“We will have a dedicated focus for people with a migratory background – underlined the municipal councilor – as foreseen by the regulation approved in December, the available budget is approximately 14 thousand euros to be spent for the years 2023/2024 in accordance with the regional law 5/2014 which obliges local authorities to commit and spend 2% of the sums of the local autonomy fund through participatory democracy in order to use direct tools for citizenship. These choices are virtuous actions for the common good that will have positive repercussions for Agrigento.”
“Among other things – concludes Vullo – I would like to inform you that there will be an information campaign and weekly meetings in all the neighborhoods of the city to explain the project well and to have a constructive discussion with the people of Agrigento. A truly beautiful page is being opened for Agrigento finally there is an instrument of democratic participation that starts from the bottom through civic actionism”.
