On the morning of Monday 10 June, in the external Talsano–Leporano road, corner of Via Amendola, the commemoration of State Police Agent Francesco Ardito, born on June 10, 1974, on the occasion of 50th year since his birth, organized by the Section ANPS “Francesco Ardito” of Taranto.
The ceremony, in the presence of Francesco Ardito’s family members, of the Taranto Police Commissioner Dr. Massimo Gambino, of the Honorable Giovanni Maiorano, of the Spiritual Assistant of the State Police Don Santo Guarino, of the representatives of the Municipality of Leporano and Taranto, as well as of the Associations Anfi, Anppe, Ancri And of the National Institute for the Guard of Honor of the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon, had a moment of great emotion with the playing of the National Anthem and with the memory of the State Police Agent Francesco Ardito, marked as follows by the speaker: “today, the State Police Agent Francesco Ardito would have turned 50 years – it was January 12, 1997, that morning, two young agents of the State Police on duty at the Milan Lambrate Polfer, Francesco Ardito and Gaetano Morgese, were on escort duty for a high-ranking state personality, on board the Etr460 “Pendolino” Milan-Rome train. – a train praised for its comfort and safety that connected Milan and Rome in 5 hours. – It had to be a routine service – near the Piacenza station, in a flash, something unpredictable, a train accident, took the lives of eight people, among them, the young policeman Francesco Ardito. he was only 22 years old”.
The ceremony continued with the blessing and laying of a laurel wreath, near the stele, erected in memory of Agent Francesco Ardito, followed by a minute of silence and the Policeman’s prayer, in honor of San Michele Arcangelo, Patron Saint of the State Police.
The event ended with delivery of a souvenir plaque and a floral tribute to Francesco Ardito’s mother.
