TURIN – The many protests in recent weeks of the Pro Palestine students, who have been there for almost a month now occupying the universities of Turin, found positive feedback in the Department of Politics, Culture and Society (Cps), led by professor Francesco Ramella, the first to have a student motion was approved who asks the academic boycott and the immediate suspension of all university agreements with universities and companies located in Israel.

“Accomplice of the colonial occupation apparatus and fundamental support base of the Israeli political-military complex in the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” the students say.

This was one of the five requests contained in the text examined by the councilors and presented by the students who gathered in apublic assemblyat the Cavallerizza in Turin, open to the entire academic community with the presence of the rector Geunathe leaders of Unito, teachers, doctoral students and students.

During the meeting, proposals were presented which will be put to the vote in the Board of Directors and the Academic Senate, while on Thursday 13 June there will be an extraordinary session of the Academic Senate to discuss the motions presented. Friday will be the turn of the University board of directors.

The other requests

The occupiers’ requests also include greater transparency in the agreements, contracts and conventions between the United Kingdom and Israel. As well as the creation of an archive to collect and update information, the termination of the agreements in force with the Technion of Haifa and the Ben Gurion University of Tel Aviv and those with the companies Leonardo and Thales Alenia Space. And a commission that acts as an observatory and a stop to new collaborations.
