The Diocese of Imola mourns the passing of Monsignor Antonio Renzi, who passed away today (11 June) after hospitalization at the Toniolo hospital in Bologna.
Don Tonino, as he was nicknamed, has been parish priest of Belricetti di Lugo since 23 August 1959. Don Antonio Renzi was born in Imola on 19 September 1930 and was ordained a priest on 28 June 1955 by the coadjutor bishop Monsignor Benigno Carrara in the cathedral of San Cassiano. He was parochial vicar of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Casola Valsenio from July 1955 to 8 October 1956, parochial vicar of the parish of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary of Bubano from 10 October 1956 and then moved to Belricetto, first as spiritual bursar then as parish priest . He taught religion in middle schools in Lugo.

Member of the diocesan commission for sacred art and cultural heritage since 1990, he held the role of deputy archivist of the Diocese of Imola from 1990 to 1997, becoming director of the Diocesan Museum and the Diocesan Archives of Imola. Auditor of the diocesan clergy support institute of the Diocese of Imola from 1 October 1990 to 31 October 2006, he was a member of the economic affairs council of the Diocese of Imola from 1995 to 2000.
