It was predictable.
Nettle had already announced it by analyzing the merciless comments on his participation in the European elections: the mayor of Arezzo beat a beautiful musate that leaves its mark, receiving just 1576 preferences in the entire constituency of central Italy, perhaps some relatives but not even those in his camp.
Councilor Romizi takes advantage of this, given the number of preferences of normal people elected to the city council, to appoint him, at most, as a new councilor and asking him to leave the mayor’s seat as he no longer represents the citizens.
Yet, despite the defeat, Ghinelli tried to make us forget the muse by even posting:
“I believe that this result is also partly due to the addition of my experience as a civic mayor who experienced this electoral campaign as an independent candidate functional to adding votes and bringing them… The Arezzo result is immediately available to Tajani”
Who knows Tajani’s laughter! Perhaps the result would have been different if the Americans, who were certainly more popular than those from Arezzo, had voted. Disappointment also for the mayor in pectore who had organized the electoral meetings for him by frantically calling all possible voters.
In the meantime, his alter-ego Agnelli, mayor of Castiglion Fiorentino re-elected for the third time with 75% of the preferences, was carried almost in procession, enjoying success due to his constant presence in the city.
Now this setback should slow down the ambitions of the still mayor towards more important shores but it should also be a lesson for those who hold administrative positions because without empathy, constant presence, concrete work on a punctured and increasingly insecure city, in the end you pay the bill.
