The results of the European elections in Milan appear very different from the national ones, with the League sinking to seventh place (also surpassed by Action and the United States of Europe). However, the data at the level of the Lombardy region are more similar to those of the rest of Italy.

The results of the European elections in Italy and the rest of Europe are now clear. But from the observation of the data expressed by the voters in Lombardy and especially in Milan a very different reality emerges from that of the rest of the country. If, in fact, Fratelli d’Italia is the leading party also at a regional level, it is not so in the capital where it is overtaken by the Democratic Party. Just as at a regional level, contrary to the national figure, the League surpasses Forza Italia. But the party currently led by Salvini actually sinks to seventh place in Milan, where it is even overtaken by Action and the United States of Europe, which however did not exceed the national barrier threshold.
In Milan the Democratic Party is the first party in the 2024 European elections
In the city of Milan, the Democratic Party is the leading party, with 31.38 percent of the votes. Almost ten percentage points behind FdI, which stops at 21.73 percent. Among the Dems there is a boom in preferences Cecilia Strada (45,955), followed by Pierfrancesco Maran (22,890) and Giorgio Gori (21,754). In terms of Fratelli d’Italia, after Giorgia Meloni (48,436), who however will not go to the European Parliament, there is only Carlo Fidanza, with just 7,565. For the League, however, Roberto Vannacci arrives 12,171 preferences and second Silvia Sardonand (8.355).
Action and the United States of Europe, despite the good result obtained (6.46 and 6.37 percent respectively), will not express any MEPs, because it has not exceeded the national barrier, set at 4 percent. Great success in the city also for the Greens-Italian Left Alliance, which becomes the third party. The league leaders certainly drove the result Ilaria Saliswho obtained 21,271 preferences in his city.

The data at regional level change, and not a little. First of all, FdI, with 31.79 percent of the votes, surpasses the Pd, which stops at 22.63. But above all the League wins third place, with 13.09 percent. Here Meloni obtains 417,485 preferences, followed by Carlo Fidanza with not even a tenth of the preferences (40,032). Less than half of the prime minister’s votes go to the dem list leader Cecilia Strada, who stopped at 191,051, followed by Giorgio Gori with 178,031.
Strada and Gori, however, surpass Roberto Vannacci in Lombardy, who stops at 122,624 preferences. Here Salis instead gets 78,422. In the 5 Star Movement, the only one to exceed, albeit slightly, the ten thousand mark was Gaetano Pedullà (10,076), but could also go to Brussels Maria Angela Danzi with 9,237. In Forza Italia the record vote holder is Antonio Tajani with 71,529 preferences, almost double Letizia Moratti (35,075).
