In Sesto and Cinisello the PD wins, despite the Northern League mayors

PD first party in Cinisello Balsamo and Sesto San Giovanni. In the two largest cities of Northern Milan the Dems are once again leading the way together with the Greens-Left alliance reaching unexpected percentages. This result is controversial first of all because it occurs in two cities firmly in the hands of Northern League mayors. Giacomo Ghilardi won the local elections by a landslide just a year ago, also driven by the strength of his own civic list, which came first.

The mayor is a Northern League member, very close to Matteo Salvini and in the city his party records 10%, slightly better than the national average but not enough to claim victory. Because in the city the Dems are once again leading the way and above all it is the FDI which wins the challenge within the centre-right unchallenged.

The legislative mayor of Sesto, Roberto Di Stefano, doesn’t even smile too much. He is also in his second term. This European test doesn’t mean who knows what for the maintenance of his majority in the city, his party does better than elsewhere and obtains 11.9% but is followed closely by the Greens-Left alliance at 10.4, whose local leader It’s Michele Foggetta who was the mayor’s challenger in the last administrative elections.
