The Councilor for Social Services of the Municipality of Agrigento Marco Vullo announces to citizens that participatory democracy is a reality through the Let’s Spend Them Together project. I would like to inform you that on Tuesday 11 June at a press conference we will give all the information about the project to the press and citizens.
“We are finally there, participatory democracy is fully realized, now we can proceed and start integration and support processes through this tool which allows horizontal participation and subsidiarity between the common body and the citizen with positive feedback.
It was a long process in which I was the protagonist both for the updating of the now obsolete regulation between steps in the council and the approval in the council of the new regulation of Participatory Democracy with the novelty that migrants can also participate in these direct forms of democracy.
This instrument allocates 2% of regional funds to municipalities following regional law 5/2014.
The Councilor for Social Services adds following my policy document and the subsequent Council resolutions 73 and 74 of 3 May, the instruments of participatory democracy envisaged by the art. were approved for 2023 and 2024. 6 of Regional Law 5/2014 and subsequent amendments and the following sums to be spent have been identified: €6,593.31 for the year 2023 and €7,387.34 for the current year.
With this tool, citizens can directly choose how to commit resources for social projects and inclusion.
A finally inclusive and collaborative model between public institution and civil society which aims at maximum transparency in decision-making choices towards the general interest.
The Spriamoli Insieme project also includes Porto Empedocle and Realmonte as partners beyond our municipality and I personally thank the designers of Speriamoli Insieme, Agorà Mundi and all those who actively collaborated in the success of the project for their support and commitment.
At the press conference on Tuesday at the Municipality of Agrigento I will explain in detail the expression of interest which will be published shortly and the final objectives of the project, I can say that Agrigento opens up to a new virtuous path which sees citizens and the world of associations as protagonists”.
