The petition has already been accepted by the Commission

The petition against the realization of the project has ended, closed with 2674 signatures collected by the Vie Talete, Gentili and Aristotele Committee of Monza in 129 sheets, delivered to the mayor Paolo Pilotto, the Region, the Province and the Ministry of the Environment. In recent days Marco Fumagalli (former 5 Star regional councilor, one of the promoters of the petition) received the communication from Dolors Montserrat, president of the petitions commission, who declared the request “admissible, since the issue raised falls within the field of activities of the European Union”.

“I have therefore asked the European Commission to conduct a preliminary investigation into the matter – writes Dolors Montserrat –. Given the topic covered, I have also forwarded the petition to the Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety for information European”. Now we will proceed with an investigation by the Commission where a delegation of citizens will be called to present their reasons.

Marco Fumagalli recalls that the works will be carried out at a distance of approximately 15 meters from the existence of the drinking water well, therefore the petition requests to verify whether the summary application of the community directives on the subject of risk prevention and protection of water bodies, by of Italy (in particular in Lombardy), can be considered for the purposes of an infringement procedure or a recommendation to be more punctual in identifying safeguard areas.
