After the 2018 vote swap scandal, another case at Leopardi’s Scauda school

Greek’s tower. From municipal elections to European consultations, the “bad habits” in the shadow of Vesuvius do not change.

Six years after the vote-swapping scandal – which resulted in the arrest and conviction of several politicians and errand boys – another case is stirring up the race to the polls for the renewal of the Strasbourg parliament: a 50-year-old man was reported for having taken a photo of the ballot paper in the booth after voting.

It happened at the Raffaele Scauda school – Leopardi district, extreme outskirts of the city – where the attention of the seat president was captured by the unmistakable click of a camera coming from the booth.

The police station on duty at the school was immediately notified: the man was identified and reported at large, while his ballot paper and smartphone were seized.

In the next few days, technical checks will be carried out on the mobile phone to verify whether the photo of the ballot paper was aimed at obtaining a cash reward.
