VIESTE – Conad Adriatico, the leading Italian group for large-scale retail trade, has a turnover of 718 million euros in Puglia and Basilicata generated by the 178 sales points present in the two regions. The brand has a market share of 12.30%, allowing 149 local suppliers (for a total turnover of 190 million euros) to have a guaranteed outlet for their products in large-scale retail trade. There are 87 entrepreneurial members in the two regions and 2,710 collaborators. Managing director Antonio Di Fernando took stock of Conad Adriatico’s overall investment throughout Italy and met the press in Vieste before the budget meeting to present the results of the last few years to the shareholders.

The cooperative closes 2023 with a turnover of 2,134 million euros (6.65 percent more than 2022), 323.05 million euros of consolidated net assets and a market share of 17.90% in the territory of competence.

Over the last 10 years Conad Adriatico has maintained a constant development trend with an overall increase in turnover of 131%, consolidating its leadership position on the market. During the proceedings, the meeting also presented an ambitious development plan for the four-year period to 23/26 with investments of over 342 million euros which will serve to increase the Group’s market share and the efficiency of its sales network beyond to important investments in the training and growth of human capital. In this regard, in 2023 almost 4 million euros were donated to social responsibility initiatives and for the reduction of food waste, confirming Conad Adriatico’s commitment to the community and the environment.

The numbers provided by the CEO are particularly significant. «With 273 entrepreneurial members, 473 sales points and around 8,450 collaborators – explained Di Fernando -, the cooperative has continued to operate to generate value for the territories in which it is present: Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia and Basilicata».

«In 2023 Conad Adriatico strengthened its leadership – added the CEO -, confirming itself as the leading distribution group, particularly in Abruzzo with a market share of 32.07%, in the Marche region 21.29% and in Molise». Di Fernando explained that «Conad’s cooperative model focuses on the strength of collaboration, passion for entrepreneurship, mutuality and participation. Thus the Group has consolidated its bond with the reference communities and the territory and its position in the distribution sector”.

In 2023 Conad Adriatico invested over 92 million euros to support the development and modernization of the sales network with technologically advanced solutions for energy efficiency, reduction of consumption and generation of clean energy through, for example, photovoltaic systems . Among the investments there is also that of the Grottaglie logistics hub, the cold logistics platform wanted by Conad Adriatico (large-scale retail trade) for the 180 sales points present in Puglia and Basilicata. The logistics hub – an investment of 15 million financed entirely with its own resources – allows us to conserve, on a covered surface of 10,000 m2 of cold storage, both fresh and very fresh products and the meat destined for the Conad network of the 2 regions. Grottaglie joins the other 3 platforms that the group already has in Puglia between Rutigliano, in the Bari area, and in Surbo and Soleto, in the Lecce area. «The structure is one of the most innovative logistics centers in Southern Italy, standing out for its strong attention to innovation and environmental sustainability objectives. For the construction – concludes Di Frenando -, some of the most innovative and cutting-edge solutions were adopted, including a photovoltaic system, with the aim of increasing the level of service, reducing the environmental impact and guaranteeing high quality and freshness of the products for the points of sale”.
