Monza, section of Via Picasso closed and reopened: here’s why

Monza, 8 June 2024. Today at 1.30 pm a Local Police patrol intervened in via Picasso to close to traffic a stretch of road where specialized personnel from the Fire Brigade – NBCR unit were carrying out some checks.

The first information collected allowed us to reconstruct that some workers, in the previous hours, had covered the construction site signs on the road with paint. This activity had led to the release of particularly annoying vapors into the air, so much so that two residents in the neighbors had complained of feeling unwell, without requesting – however – clinical tests.

Thanks to the information gathered by the agents, *the NBCR unit of the Fire Brigade found the safety data sheets, also written in English, of the paint used. The first instrumental measurements, however, have highlighted rather low concentrations of the substance and therefore, such that they are not considered harmful to people.

The hypothesis as to what happened is connected to the quantity of material used for the roofing which, in all probability, was much higher than what was required.

The Local Police made a report to the Judicial Authority against unknown persons
