MODENA FC – MARKET: CODA AND BORRELLI

A year ago, towards the end of June, we had this headline on our news programme: “Modena, negotiations open for Massimo Coda”.
One year later, we are still here: this morning the Gazzetta dello Sport reported the news of the start of negotiations by Genoa (owner of Coda’s card) for the future of the attacker who, this season, has scored 19 goals – playoffs including – with the Cremonese.
Modena and Palermo are the two most interesting clubs for the 35-year-old striker from Cava dei Tirreni, while Cremonese itself – despite having a right of first refusal – does not seem so convinced about renewing with Coda.
Alternatively, Radiomercato whispers of an interest from Modena also for Gennaro Borrelli, 24 year old center forward from Brescia, 9 goals this year, but owned by Frosinone: good striker, but Coda is a completely different thing (and a completely different price, if he doesn’t arrive on loan, and a completely different salary).
And, at that point, Thomas Alberti – arriving – would be a valid backup for Coda (or Borrelli), to alternate with Gliozzi and Abiuso.
Finally, on the transfer front, the romantic hypothesis of a return of Romeo Giovannini to Carpi is receding: the 22-year-old attacking midfielder wants to play for his two chances in Serie B and Cittadella is giving it some thought.
