Between May and June, eight foreign citizens irregular on the national territory were repatriated to their countries of origin thanks to the work of the Immigration Office of the Piacenza Police Headquarters.

The activities of the police made it possible to identify individuals present in the Piacenza area in the absence of any residence permit, but also to monitor and combat any failure to comply with the alternative measures to forced repatriation. An intervention of this type, for example, was necessary for a 45-year-old citizen of the Dominican Republic, with a police record, already the recipient of an expulsion order and non-compliant with the voluntary departure measure. Traced in the area by the Police, he was made available to the Immigration Office which, after having obtained validation of the accompaniment provision at the border, fully carried out the repatriation to his country of origin.

Similarly, thanks to the preventive activity of identification and verification of the existence of the expulsion conditions for foreign citizens detained at the local prison, it was possible to carry out the repatriation of a Tanzanian citizen released after having served a 3-year sentence and 2 months for drug offences.

Three other subjects, however, of Albanian citizenship, already detained for crimes against property, were accompanied to the border in execution of the expulsion ordered by the judicial authority as an alternative measure to detention.

extraordinary control activities

Finally, the Immigration Office also carried out some extraordinary control activities in the area, as a result of which, on several occasions, three foreign citizens were found in irregular conditions, including a man with a history of narcotics and a woman with a police record for aiding and abetting prostitution. All the subjects were fully accompanied to the border to be repatriated to their country of origin, Albania.

The commitment made by the Immigration Office has also allowed it to intervene effectively against illegal foreign citizens on national territory even in the absence of the conditions necessary for repatriation. In the reference period, in fact, four accompaniments to the detention centers of Milan, Gorizia and Macomer were carried out for foreign citizens with criminal and police records for crimes against property or in the field of narcotic substances in order to complete the identification procedures required for subsequent repatriation to the countries of origin.

The increased control activity was also carried out with regard to the requests aimed at issuing the residence permit. In fact, in recent months the Immigration Office has concluded numerous procedures with negative results due to significant documentary deficiencies or evident lack of interest of foreign citizens who have not registered
presented at the counters on the convening dates.

This greater attention dedicated to practices of dubious merit made it possible, in particular, to verify the position of a Moroccan citizen against whom there were several reports of crimes.
