Rimini. Hires four people to beat up his ex-girlfriend and new partner: arrested in Albania

The Albanian Police, in collaboration with the Italian State Police, arrested a wanted person who was subject to a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP of Rimini. The man is accused of aggravated stalking, aggravated arson and serious and aggravated bodily harm, for events that occurred in Rimini in the summer of 2023.

The arrest was made possible thanks to an international search operation, coordinated by the International Police Cooperation Service in close collaboration with the Rimin Flying Squadthe. The Albanian authorities carried out the provisional arrest for the purposes of extradition based on the order of the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of Rimini, dated 25 August 2024. The thirty-year-old Albanian is accused of having committed aggravated acts of persecution, aggravated arson in complicity, and serious and aggravated bodily harm, against his ex-girlfriendcompatriot, and her new partner, in Rimini between June and July 2023.

The investigations conducted by the Flying Squad of Rimini have made it possible to reconstruct the numerous persecutory actions, insults, defamations, harassment and serious threats carried out by the man. On 24 July 2023, the situation culminated in a violent attack on the couple, during which four masked men brutally beat them and doused them with petrol, with the intention of setting them on fire. Only thanks to the providential intervention of some neighbors, the attackers were put to flight, avoiding the worst.

This brutal ambush followed another serious episode of intimidation against the woman, with the burning of her car. The man had also planned to spark a family feud to force his ex-girlfriend to return with him to his home country, even purchasing a plane ticket in her name.

Despite the speed of the investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rimini, which led to the issuing of the precautionary custody order, the man managed to escape from Albania. However, he was arrested a few days ago awaiting extradition.
