There proposal for the request for composition with creditors presented last May 8 by the Cittadella della Carità Foundation (containing the strategic development plan and a debt restructuring proposal to creditors) was accepted by the Taranto court, with the consequent freezing of all previous situations. The judicial administrator, the lawyer Dario Lupo, accepted the assignment. A very important turning point in the dispute that has been holding the future of dozens of workers and the Ionian healthcare facility in the balance for months. Given that the unfreezing of company current accounts arrived on the same day and therefore the salaries for May could start next week. And checks were also carried out by the Local Health Authority of Taranto for the checks requested by the Puglia Region in relation to the suspension of the facility’s health accreditations (triggered due to failure to comply with the rules set out in decree 81/2008 on health and safety in the workplace) following the intervention of the Fire Brigade who had recorded some violations and requested the mitigation of the fire risk, would have been, in his opinion, ‘too hasty’.
All of this should definitively unblock the ongoing negotiation for the lease of the business unit to the Soave Sanità company, controlled by Neuromed, and the transfer of accreditations to the latter. The company has in fact confirmed its total willingness to invest and proceed with the acquisition of the business unit and the maintenance of all current employment levels (an essential condition for the positive conclusion of the dispute), declaring itself ready to take over with an initial investment equal to to 2 million euros.
The dispute may have reached an important turning point. We’ll see.
