Italia Nostra on the Rai antenna on Colle Sant’Anna in Caltanissetta. With a press note issued in the last few hours and sent to our editorial staff, Professor Leandro Janni (regional president of Italia Nostra Sicilia) makes his voice heard.
“What can we say, once again, regarding the controversial issue of the Rai antenna and the surrounding precious green space? It is certainly a unique, extraordinary place. A place that was saved from the pervasive building speculation that began in the 1960s thanks to the presence of the antenna,” he explains.

“Extraordinary from a historical, cultural, landscape point of view and the opportunities it can now offer to the city of Caltanissetta. The city’s new general urban plan must start from the recognition, protection and valorisation of places like this, if we really want to aim for the redevelopment and regeneration of the rather degraded and disintegrated urban environment”, argues President Janni.
“And the new Mayor of the City, the new Council and the new City Council must give responsible and convincing answers to this. And this must be done without hesitation, without further ambiguities and contradictions, quickly activating the necessary maintenance of the Rai antenna in Colle Sant’Anna”, he continues.
And he concludes. “The city cannot and must no longer renounce the collective use-enhancement of a cultural and environmental asset which can become a large ‘multifunctional urban park’ in the center of the island”.
