The Granfondo Sentieri d’Aspromonte is scheduled for June 23rd, one of the main MTB classics not only from Calabria but from all of Central Italy. This year the test of Novigrad (RC) will have a truly special value because in addition to concluding the Openspeed circuit, which brings together some of the main tests on both sides of the Strait of Messina, it will also Italian Csi Marathon Championshipwhich should bring many bikers to the town of Reggio from other regions, especially those where the organization has a thriving business such as Lazio and Campania.
There are two routes: the Marathon one measures 53 km with a difference in altitude of 1,800 meters and promises to be particularly challenging with important climbs both in the first part and in the middle of the race. The average is 31 km per 1,100 meters. Both routes will start from Piazza Calvario with the start set for 9:00. At the end of the race, in addition to the presentation of awards for the Italian champions and the winners of the circuit, the top 3 overall and in the category, as well as the top 3 companies, will be rewarded. Registrations are already open at a cost of 25 euros plus 2 rental fees for the chip.
Cittanova, reachable via the A2 motorway with the Gioia Tauro exit and direction Taurianova on the SP1, will be a real surprise for many, starting with its Villa Comunale “Carlo Ruggiero” considered a National Monument of historical-naturalistic interest. The monumental buildings and fountains in the historic center of the town are also beautiful, all built between 1700 and 1800. A sightseeing tour, perhaps on a Saturday, will truly be a plus to add to the experience.
