The girls of La Meridiana confirm themselves at the top of tennis in Emilia Romagna. The Under 12 women’s team (photo) coached by Alessandro Arginelli won the regional title by beating the ties of the Circolo Tennis Zavaglia of Ravenna 2-0. A result that allows the group composed of Carlotta Arginelli, Sofia Foggia, Amelia Campadelli Zamboni and Ylenia Guaitoli to secure the pass for the Italian Championships in September. The success in the final came away on the pitches of the Ravenna club thanks to the victories of Arginelli 7-5 6-0 over Anna Foschini and of Foggia who defeated Diamante Campana 6-3 6-3. The team from the Modena club had reached the final by first eliminating Cere di Reggio on their home courts (2-1) and then beating Tennis Modena 2-0 in the semi-final in the derby. In the quarterfinals against the Reggio Emilia team, La Meridiana’s Arginelli and Foggia had defeated the two Reggio Emilia players Lisa Cantarelli and Martina Sartori with identical doubles 6-0 6-0, while Tennis Modena had got the better of Muratori Vignola thanks to Gaia’s successes Serra Zanetti (6-0 6-2 over Giulia Tonin) and Petra Salvi (6-4 6-0 over Federica Lolli). In the semi-final the derby was again driven by the successes of Foggia (4-1 over Serra Zanetti) and Arginelli (6-1 6-2 over Petri). In the 3rd-4th place final, Tennis Modena then lost to Tennis Riccione.
