Ninety years of serving others, in the name of solidarity. The Avis section of La Spezia reaches 90 years of foundation (it was founded in 1934), an important milestone that will be celebrated with a series of initiatives, presented yesterday in the Municipality by the mayor Pierluigi Peracchini and the president of the local Avis Giacomo Grande. The blood donor association has organized a rich calendar of concerts and sporting events, under the patronage of the Municipality of La Spezia and the Liguria Region, which began in May, but which will come to life with the events of the current month. From 15 June, various activities will take place designed to involve citizens, raise awareness, spread the message of solidarity and civic sense that characterizes the association and promote healthy and health-positive lifestyles. These events will precede the official ceremony, scheduled in Piazza Verdi and in Sala Dante on 23 June, during which the banner parade and the donor awards will be held. “Avis Spezia has been a pillar of solidarity and altruism in our community for almost a century” underlines the mayor.

Avis has planned two free shows in Piazza del Bastione and a non-competitive march that will start from the Avis headquarters in Favaro. The initiatives will start on Saturday 15 June, with “Me la Canto e me la Suonano” in Piazza del Bastione (9pm, free entry) with Leonardo D’Angelo, an actor from La Spezia, Roman by adoption, who took off after studying at Cardarelli high school and the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara. On stage with him an ensemble of musicians: Benedetta Matteoni on violin, Lorenzo Poletti on sax, Denis Daryi on accordion and Marcello Marianetti (keyboard and musical direction). Sunday 16 June the non-competitive march “1st Memorial Luigi Di Marino” with the collaboration of the Non-competitive Marches Committee: meeting at 8 at Avis in Favaro, the march will cover the hills up to San Venerio. “An event – ​​explains Grande – which not only celebrates the 90 years of our association, but honors the memory of one of our volunteers who, although he passed away prematurely, left an indelible mark on our community. Finally on Friday 21st in Piazza Bastione ( 9pm, free entry) Neapolitan music concert performed by Napulitansong.
