Last June 5th, at the port of Crotone, the disembarkation of 89 migrants of Afghan, Iraqi, Syrian, Iranian and Egyptian nationality was recorded, after the intervention at sea by the local Port Authority. Following this event, in which the staff of the Immigration Office and the Scientific Police were also involved, the Flying Squad of the Police Headquarters started investigations aimed at identifying the smugglers.

Thanks to the statements released by the migrants and the analysis of the mobile phones in use by them, it was possible to reconstruct all the phases of the journey, from the departure from Turkey to the arrival on the Crotone coasts, and to identify in the three citizens of Egyptian origin those who had driven the vessel.
