“Excellent discussions with the five candidates”, Confesercenti: “Relaunch issues addressed”

Frost. “A positive outcome”, this is how the Confesercenti traders expressed themselves at the end of the round of meetings they had with the five candidates for mayor. “The choice to have five individual meetings with each candidate for mayor, although demanding from a logistical point of view with the following of all the traders in the historic centre, in fact allowed for an understanding of the programmes, the solutions and the immediacy of the actions, that they will put in place with respect to their future appointment as mayor. An absolutely positive and satisfactory balance because it allowed a clear, serene and high-level dialogue between the employers’ association, the traders of the historic center and the future administration. What emerged from all five discussions – explains the coordinator Fabio Cammarata – is a maximum availability for collaboration with respect to a preponderant theme which is the crisis of the historic center and its commerce, with the resolution hypotheses to be put in place . The discussion was not based on the usual question regarding the individual ZTL, whether it is a positive or negative factor, but all five candidates agreed that today what is perpetuated on a daily basis in the historic center is not satisfactory and is harmful for the area, for citizens and for commercial activities. It is clear that an evolution of the current pedestrianization needs to be put in place but this must be a final piece following a fundamental redevelopment, management of urban decor, arrangement, adaptation and strengthening of car parks and above all of the car park Arena in terms of services and a range of events and attractions, which allow citizens and tourists to enjoy a historic center worthy of the reputation of the city’s parlor”.
