Palermo, Gardini: «Changing coach is a defeat for all of us»

Speaking to the microphones of Palermo’s official website, the CEO of the Rosanero, Giovanni Gardini, answered ten questions. Below is an excerpt of his statements:

How do you evaluate the teams’ performance during the championship considering the change of technical leadership?

«As we have always said, the change of coach is not the solution to all problems, but it must happen at a time when you don’t have a point, you have a point of no return. In a certain period of the season we ran into big difficulties: the persistence of negative results and the under-performance of the team led us to change coach, something that was fundamentally not our objective. This shows that we need to find greater strength, cohesion and will to seek a result all together because only in this way can we think of achieving what we set out to achieve.

The club wants to put everyone in the best position to be able to do and carry out their duties. From me down everyone knows what they can find and therefore they have to give something even more than what they have given, because there is a need for this. However, the change of coach is a defeat for all of us, but in football unfortunately there comes a time when you have to make a choice of this type. From that moment the team also had the chance to obtain a sixth place, which was not desired, but we were always in the playoffs for the entire season. So we have improved and we all have to do more, because if you don’t do more you won’t get to where the others maybe can.”
