With a unique style and particular attention to the representation of human complexity, he has left an indelible mark on the international cinema scene. Among the central themes of his works, the body plays a fundamental role, it becomes a narrative tool through which to explore desires, relationships and identities. With “Kika – A borrowed body” (1993) Almodóvar stages a work full of provocation, where the bodies of the characters become objects of desire, manipulation and transgression. The body becomes a metaphor of contemporary society, with its obsessions and its perversions. It will be screened on June 10th at 7pm, June 11th at 9pm, June 12th at 3pm and June 13th at 7pm. In “The Flower of My Secret” (1995), Almodóvar tackles the theme of the body in a more intimate and delicate way: the protagonist Leo – an immense Marisa Paredes – finds herself dealing with her body and her identity in an internal journey that leads her to rediscover herself and to free itself from the conventions that suffocate it. It will be screened on June 15th at 9pm, June 16th at 5pm, June 17th at 7pm, June 19th at 3pm.

Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in “Talk to her” (2002) the body becomes the border between life and death, but also the means through which to express love, desire and intimacy. Almodóvar explores the fragility and strength of the human body, its capacity for connection and communication even beyond words. It will be screened on June 20th at 9pm, June 21st at 7pm, June 23rd at 5pm and June 25th at 3pm. In “Bad education” (2004) – with a great Gael Garcia Bernal – stories of passion, violence and forgiveness are intertwined, in which the bodies of the characters are prisoners of their darkest desires and their traumatic experiences. Almodóvar explores the vulnerability of bodies in the face of power and manipulation. “La mala educación” won the BAFTA for best foreign film and received an Oscar® nomination for best screenplay.

It will be screened on June 24th at 9pm, June 26th at 5pm, June 27th at 3pm. With “Volver” (2006) Almodóvar explores the theme of motherhood, death and rebirth through the body of women, which becomes the place of life and death, of suffering and resilience. Female bodies are a source of strength and wisdom, of joy and pain. Award for best female performance to the cast of the film at the Cannes Film Festival: Penélope Cruz, Carmen Maura, Lola Duenas, Chus Lampreave, Yohana Cobo, Blanca Portillo. Penelope Cruz also received an Oscar nomination. Screening on 28 June at 5pm, 30 June at 4.30pm, 2 July at 3.30pm and 5 July at 7pm.
