Florence, 7 June 2024 – Like last year, the extension of the free opening starts tomorrow 8 June of the public bathrooms in Piazza Santo Spirito. The extension will go from midnight to 3am in the evenings of Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will continue until October 1st. On the other days of the week the opening remains unchanged until midnight.
Only on Wednesday did all the managers of Santo Spirito meet in the square on one side to show their solidarity to the colleague beaten up by a bunch of kids, on the other to ask for greater safety and the opening of public toilets on the busiest days. The video published by La Nazione yesterday was an arrow that hit many bartenders and restaurateurs in the heart, shocked by the fury of the members of the baby gang who first punched and then bottled the owner of Pitta M’Ingolli Bartolomeo Cosattini.
On Saturday the beating began precisely because four kids, not finding the toilet in the square working, took refuge inside the toilet. If they were caught using cocaine on their cell phones, they would be thrown out. “One of the four called the rest of the gang that was stationed in the square. There were about twelve of them – says Bartolomeo – they started punching me and pushing me, then one of them threw an ashtray at me and another a glass which broke me on the back of the neck, almost on the head. While trying to escape, a customer sprained his ankle, while a customer ended up on the ground.”
