Feel Florence Pass, new wi-fi network with 95 access points with information for tourists

The Municipality of Florence is now making available the new “Feel Florence Pass” wi-fi network, an integrated system of interaction with the visitor which will allow push notifications to users providing them with directions and information on the places they visit and at the same time allowing a anonymous monitoring of the main flows.

Navigation will be in English, free and fast, thanks to the 1 Gigabit fiber serving the 95 access points.

Once registered online, the tourist will have access to cultural content (including the advertising of exhibitions and events) contextualized with respect to the area of the historic center in which he is located at that moment, provided and updated by the Feel Florence app.

There are eight areas with differentiated contents: Historic center (Palazzo Vecchio / Duomo); Santa Maria Novella; Holy Cross / Saint Ambrose; Santo Spirito / Pitti Palace; Piazzale Michelangelo; San Niccolò; Independence Square; Murate.

Once fully operational, the “Feel Florence Pass” will serve tens of thousands of tourists a year, allowing not only better use of the UNESCO heritage but also a more optimized distribution of tourist flows.

Florentines will also have advantages as the new access points installed – numerically increased and technologically better – will not only serve the network available to foreign tourists but also the already existing “Florence Wi-Fi” network which will therefore be faster both for less crowding than for the new antennas.

The new digital service was born from a collaboration between the Municipality of Florence, its subsidiary Firenze Smart and a technological partner, Cloud4Wi, a startup of the University of Pisa born in Tuscany which today is based in Silicon Valley, San Francisco and New York and is present in over 150 countries.

Feel Florence Pass is an intervention financed by the Ministry of Tourism as part of the broader project “FEEL FLORENCE: from the digital transition to sustainability for a new tourist destination”, thanks to the Fund established with Legislative Decree 25 May 2021 n. 73 for the Unesco Sites and Creative Cities Call.
