The Archdiocese of Catania, as it has for several years now, is also present at the 2024 edition of the “International Festival of Comics and Pop Culture”, better known as “Etnacomics”. Ribbon cutting on the morning of June 6th: for twelve editions the “Le Ciminiere” exhibition center has attracted around 90 thousand enthusiasts of the ninth art, games and video games, lovers of fantasy and cosplay, families where the passion for various characters which have long entered the collective imagination – like the Marvel heroes, the local Bonelli characters, the timeless Disney characters – are passed down from parents to children. It is an opportunity to discover something new every time, learn new games, challenge friends in various tournaments, meet famous or niche artists and cartoonists, learn by playing: this year, among others, the Institute’s stand will host national team of astrophysics, which offers many fun and educational activities for adults and children.
Kicking off this edition, together with the director Antonio Mannino, the mayor Enrico Trantino and the president of the Regional Assembly Gaetano Galvagno.
To our microphones, with which we asked, perhaps prematurely, expectations for the current edition and improvements for future editions, the director replies: «We can always improve, but it is absurd to think of creating something perfect. Even in imperfection there is always a nostalgic, loving, sweet feeling. It is a human thing.” And he adds: «We expect a great show, and we await you until Sunday 9 June».
The Archdiocese participates in the event with a stand set up in the Comics area by the San Paolo bookshop: many visitors were immediately attracted by the posters and copies of the Gospel in manga version, but it is also possible to meet and discover the illustrator’s works Fabia Mustica from Catania, author of the story of Saint Agatha in comics, which has achieved great success over the years.
Not only that: in the stand it will be possible to meet the editorial staff of Prospettive e Avvenire Catania, ready to tell you about the festival from the inside every day, to collect your comments and impressions, and present the activities carried out.
