He let the students off shortly after school, then tried to leave again without success. When he got out he noticed that smoke was coming out from under the vehicle. He took the fire extinguisher and immediately tried to avoid the worst.
What happened
It happened on Thursday morning 6 June at the time the children entered school. The vehicle had left Pietrasanta and was headed towards the hotel. Shortly after the McDonald’s roundabout, the driver realized the problem and let the students get off, who probably didn’t even notice the smoke. While he was throwing the fire extinguisher powder under the vehicle, a bus driver traveling in the opposite direction noticed that he was in difficulty and stopped to help him. He also grabbed the fire extinguisher and accompanied him. From what emerges the vehicle is from 2005 and the muffler, from which the problem appears to have arisen, had been the subject of an intervention just two months ago. It is therefore difficult to establish the cause of the failure. The vehicle will be taken to Lucca and the necessary investigations will be carried out. Fortunately, there were no disruptions to public transport, since the children had already arrived at their destination.
