Cremona Campagna Amica on Sunday 9 June in Piazza Stradivari

Farmers’ market in Cremona from 9am to 6.30pm, with typical foods and seasonal flowers

The flavors and colors of “June shopping” will be the protagonists on Sunday at the Campagna Amica market, which returns to Piazza Stradivari in Cremona on 9 June, from 9am to 6.30pm. It will be a day dedicated to all “the good and the beautiful” that arise from Cremonese and Lombardy agriculture. There will be a farmers’ market, with typical foods and seasonal flowers, brought to the square directly by the producers. Two themes of the day: “one cherry leads to another”, in homage to the seasonal fruit, and “the honeymoon”, with special attention to the work of bees and beekeepers.

Under the yellow gazebos of the Coldiretti farmers, citizens will find all the typical flavors of Cremonese and Lombardy agriculture, from seasonal fruit and vegetables to jams, from honey to bread and baked goods, and then cheeses and cured meats, fruit juices, snail-based products, wine and rice, and other excellences personally guaranteed by the farmers. Dedicated to the little ones (but not only) there will be some “old games”, handmade and made of wood, and the usual gazebo-farm, where girls and boys will find the green carpet and tractors to have fun with. By the peasant cook, in the afternoon there will be a zero km snack, offered by the farmers of Campagna Amica.

The day with Campagna Amica in Piazza Stradivari is part of the “The Four Seasons of Cremona” initiative, with the patronage and collaboration of the Municipality of Cremona. It will also be an opportunity to continue to support, with a signature, the proposed European popular initiative law on the transparency of what we bring to the table. The initiative launched by Coldiretti, with the objective of one million signatures, wants to say no to imported foods disguised as Italian and defend the health of citizens and the income of farmers, extending the obligation to indicate origin on the label to all food products on the market in the EU. It is also necessary to stop the importation of food treated with substances and methods banned in Europe – underlines Coldiretti Cremona – such as Canadian wheat dried before harvesting with glyphosate, affirming respect for the principle of reciprocity: the obligations that are imposed on producers Italians must also apply to those who want to sell on the European market.
