Discovering Ukraine, the story of children affected by war: the presentation of the book at Palazzo Ardinghelli

The book “Discovering UKRAINE” will be presented in the Court of Palazzo Ardinghelli. A journey through the centuries” of the 24 February association.

“Discovering UKRAINE. A journey through the centuries” – A book that celebrates Ukrainian history and culture and supports children affected by war.

Saturday 8 June from 4.30pm, on MAXXI L’Aquila will host in Court of Palazzo Ardinghelli the presentation of the book “Discovering UKRAINE. A journey through the centuries”designed and produced by February 24 Ukrainian Associationto.

The book, published by Michele Biallo Editor, is the result of the collaboration between the Lviv Polytechnic, the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila, MIOK (International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations) and the Leonardo Da Vinci Italian-Ukrainian Collaboration Centre. The authors, Tatiana Goldak-Gorbachevska, Taras Gorbachevskij, Oksana Gorda and Iryna Kliuchkovska, are professors and historians at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute. The illustrations and cover were created by Elisa Ricci and Antonello Santarelli. The book is dedicated to young readers and offers a journey through the history, culture and traditions of Ukraine, narrated by Andriyko and Marijchkatwo Ukrainian children welcomed into Italy after the start of the conflict, who tell the stories of their country to their new Italian friends, Luca and Monica.

The presentation, sponsored by the Embassy of Ukraine in Italy, the Regional Council of Abruzzo and the Municipality of L’Aquila, will be attended by Mariya Khrystyna Ilnytska of 24 February Ukrainian Association and Antonello Santarelli. Moderation will be entrusted to the journalist of Il Capoluogo, Eleonora Falci. The evening will end with refreshments and a musical performance by Marianna Volkova, who will play the bandura, a traditional Ukrainian instrument. Entrance is free while places last.

During the event it will be possible to purchase the book. The book is also a solidarity initiative. For each copy sold, 6 euros will be donated of three beneficial projects:

– 2 euros to the pediatric department in Trostyanets in the Sumy region

– 2 euros to the Ukrainian Future Hub children’s center in Odesa, which helps refugee children with school integration

– 2 euros to the “Hands of Happiness and Goodness” project in Kharkiv, which supports children with physical and mental pathologies
