Twice in a month the alarm was raised to the Superior Council of the Judiciary regarding staff shortages at the Brescia court: two requests, on 2 and 13 May, by the president of the first criminal section of the court, Roberto Spanó, to request new magistrates and be able to face the trial of Roberto Zorzi, believed to be one of the perpetrators of the Piazza della Loggia massacre. A debate that promises to be long and complicated.

Despite the announcements and reassurances, however, two weeks after the start of the trial nothing has happened. “The trials for the massacre are very complex and require an exceptional effort, which will probably involve the respective judging panels exclusively for at least a year – they say the Attorney General Guido Rispoli and the President of the Court of Appeal Antonio Matano -. In order to guarantee the rapid and regular carrying out of the two trials, the magistrates responsible for their celebration will necessarily have to be replaced by other colleagues as regards the carrying out of normal jurisdictional activity. What the leaders of the Brescia justice system are asking for are four magistrates. district of Brescia it is not possible to draw – they explained – the blanket is too short.
