Viterbo – Second edition of the event created by the teachers and students of the Fantappié comprehensive institute
Viterbo – We receive and publish – The second edition of the event “Let’s aim high… a thousand meters above the bullies” took place on 4 June 2024 at 10.30 am in the Sala Regia of the municipality of Viterbo, conceived and curated by the students, the students and teachers of the Luigi Fantappiè comprehensive institute in Viterbo.

The event, sponsored by the municipality of Viterbo which hosted it in the splendid setting of the Sala Regia, featured the pupils of the Fantappiè school, around one hundred girls and boys from nursery school to lower secondary school, who wanted to share with the institutional, civil and military representatives of the city, a moment of construction, reflection and personal expression on the issues of legality.
After the opening of body percussion on the notes of Mameli’s anthem, the head teacher Valeria Monacelli welcomed the participants by speaking of the “school of doing”, a characterizing element of the Fantappiè institute, capable of giving a real impulse to the prevention of every form of abuse.

“Our school of doing generates community. And today they are here to invite the city’s institutions to form a community, sharing the results of a great commitment. A school that does not correct the direction, but illuminates the path ahead with a great beacon: that of commitment, sharing, smiling, creativity, working together”.
Councilor Alfonso Antoniozzi addressed the young people: “You are not the future, you are the present of this country, of this city” inviting them to reflect on the great value of commitment, collaboration, empathy to build a more fair and equitable.

Also present was the police commissioner of Viterbo, Luigi Silipo who, commenting on the children’s activities on Legality, underlined the need to “never look the other way, to denounce any form of abuse and not to tolerate the responsible silence of silence”.
The provincial commander of the Carabinieri, Massimo Friano underlined the “power of words, the importance of gestures” and taking the young people present by the hand, invited them to participate in listening, to activate and experience every contact with sensitivity, to feel part of a community”.
Also present in the room were Lieutenant Colonel of the Guardia di Finanza Rosario Masdea, the commander of the local police Mauro Vinciotti and the assistant chief coordinator of the State Police, Pietro Settembri.

Councilor Emanuele Aronne also spoke and, speaking about sport, underlined the importance of the rules and of those who guarantee respect for them, a role which in sporting competitions is covered by the referee: “The teachers are your referees. Always take care to listen to them.”
The words of the representative of the prevention projects for bullying and cyber bullying phenomena of the provincial school office, Sabrina Sciarrini, who agreed together with her colleague Angela Proietti, were incisive: “The school teaches mutual respect not with big projects, but with everyone’s teaching the days, a small piece every day, because it is from the small daily details that a more civic and responsible future can be built”. Among the school members, the director of the general and administrative services of the school Andrea Centofanti and the president of the school council Massimiliano Meschini spoke.

In closing, the speech by Marta Nori, president of the Kyanos association and Rosita Ponticiello, with whom, in collaboration with the provincial command of the Carabinieri, the teaching component of the Fantappiè school has just completed a training course on issues not only of bullying but also of gender violence.
“Bullying, as well as gender violence, both arise from prejudice – underlined Nori -. Your teachers, dear children, have asked themselves the problem of how to listen to your silences and what value to give them”. Speaking about bullies, Ponticiello expressed the great effort that must be made “to isolate their actions and, at the same time, welcome their discomfort to extinguish its deleterious effects on others”.
The closing of the event was entrusted to the flute ensemble of the institute’s musical address who greeted the attendees to the notes of the Little Night Serenade K525 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in a transcription for three-voice flute ensemble.
During the event the following school projects and activities were awarded:
– the local and provincial music competitions in which the students of the musical branch participated
– the “Rete Falcone” project – Integrated creative laboratory for primary and secondary schools
– the BulliStop contest promoted by the national center against bullying
– the “Sulle ali delle Api – EmozioGiocando” and “Bee On Time” projects for nursery schools
– the “Let’s Dance on the World” project of primary school
– the school sports group of the institute
– the “Class of Readers” project of the secondary school in twinning with the Comprehensive Institute of Pietrapertosa (PZ), present in connection with the event
– the FantaGarden project of the secondary school, included in the “Green Schools Network”, provincial contest “Sustainability according to us”
– mathematical games
– the Olympics of technical drawing
