Piedmont, Disabato(M5s): mountain territories to be valorised – VDA News

Milan, 4 June. (askanews) – In Piedmont we need to “enhance” the mountain territories and the M5s, “unlike others, has clear ideas: without services, the mountains die”. Thus in a note the five-star candidate for the presidency of the Piedmont Region, Sarah Disabato, who today together with parliamentarians Chiara Appendino, Elisa Pirro and Nino Iaria visited the Lanzo Valleys for four stages of her electoral tour in a camper in Ciriè, Lanzo, Traves and Cantoira.

“An opportunity to tell the valley residents our idea of Piedmont and the development lines we intend to carry forward to enhance the mountains and inland areas. In Piedmont we have the most beautiful peaks in Europe, yet these lands continue to suffer from a chronic lack of services. In recent years the 5 Star Movement has fought in the Regional Council to avoid the closure of the emergency room in Lanzo and the privatization of healthcare facilities, but we have seen the centre-right engage in full force only for the Cuorgnè hospital, neglecting as usual the Lanzo Valleys” he recalled.

“Public health in the mountains must be protected and guaranteed, also by investing more resources in local medicine, in the wake of what the Conte Government did with the Pnrr funds for community homes and hospitals. The issue of transport is crucial. The Turin-Ceres railway is suspended in the Germagnano-Ceres section, completely left to decay, and in Ciriè you still have to change trains to reach the Valleys. Huge investments will be necessary for the reactivation of the line and this is due to the policies of the Cirio Council, policies of little foresight which divide Piedmont into series A and series B citizens based on the territory of residence. Not to mention the bus routes, which in the Valleys are unable to guarantee at least sufficient coverage. Investing in transport is essential to avoid the depopulation of these areas and make them attractive to possible new residents who want to make the mountains their home” he added.

Likewise, according to Disabato, “it is necessary to beat the fists in front of the central Government, contrary to what the Cirio Council did, to avoid the continuous closure of schools in internal areas, and work to bring a fast internet connection to all territories, so as to allow workers to practice smart working and agile working and encourage the arrival of digital nomads”.
