PISTOIA – It is called “Ho a cuore”, the project by Fondazione Ant Italia that will allow for the completion of eighteen months 150 home blood transfusions for cancer patients. It is one of the 22 projects supported by Fondazione Caript with the 2024 edition of the Socialmente call, the results of which have been defined in recent days. In total, the contributions are 200,844 euros.

The Ant Foundation project, already activated in the Pistoia area, last year allowed 75 blood transfusions to be carried out, involving a doctor and a nurse in a service for patients in particularly difficult situations, because they are elderly, bedridden, alone or live in isolated areas. Now the Foundation’s contribution will allow a significant expansion of this service.

“The purpose of this announcement – underlines the president of the Caript Foundation Luca Gori – is to improve the quality of life of those who are most fragile in our communities. This is why we support projects that concern people’s health, economic and educational poverty and, in general, the theme of social inclusion. It is a commitment that can be developed thanks to consolidated collaborative relationships with local associations, with which we share motivations and objectives”.

Several of the projects supported by Socialmente 2024 are aimed at the elderly population. Among these is the new Day Center of the Turati Foundation for people with dementia that, in via Amati in Pistoia, will be able to accommodate twenty people. The Foundation’s contribution is intended, in this case, for the creation of an Alzheimer’s garden.

Always aimed at the elderly is the Veteris project (Italian Association of Geriatricians and Veterinarians for animal-assisted interventions) with the aim of promoting personal well-being through relationships with animals. In addition to enabling the planned activities, the Foundation’s contribution is dedicated to training the necessary staff.

“Adults in progress” is the title of the project of the Il Sole Pistoia association that will involve 32 people with Down syndrome in paths to develop individual autonomy. Led by educators, participants will plan monthly activities that will include weekends to be managed independently in the premises available to the association. In addition to seminars and workshops on practical skills (such as cooking skills and the correct use of money) or on how to strengthen self-esteem and a sense of self-efficacy, the project also includes a four-week summer holiday. The holiday will take place in July and the children will be entrusted with the complete management of their daily living.

Other projects supported through Socially concern food collection for charitable structures in the Pistoia area, socialization activities and economic support a people with multiple sclerosistraining courses for foreign and Italian women at risk of marginalization and carpentry and horticulture laboratories for minors in the care of social services and for adults in judicial paths.

All Socialmente 2024 projects are published on fondazionecaript.it in the “Calls and forms” section.
