With the disabled pass of the relative who died 7 years ago: the fine is triggered
At the wheel of the car he saw fit to use the disabled pass that was inside, registered to the elderly family member who is no longer alive. A situation that had been going on for who knows how long given that that relative had already passed away 7 years. In the end the man, resident in Molfetta, ended up in the network Local police.

The permit was confiscated and he was also subject to an administrative fine. The fight against illegal parking in spaces reserved for people with disabilities is among the priorities of the municipal manager’s body Cosimo Aloia, which is implementing a real crackdown. And the numbers also make it clear why. In May, in fact, in the face of 140 badges for disabled people which the family members did not return after the death of their relative, the agents have already recovered 80.

The last case, however, is truly emblematic: the motorist was using the disabled permit, but the holder had died 7 years. The discovery occurred last Friday afternoon during a specific program of checks on the use of disabled parking spaces carried out by the body. In the centre, a patrol noticed a vehicle parked on a parking lot for the disabled: the first suspect caught sight of when the officers realized that the pass had expired since 2021.

Not only. After a quick investigation and some cross-checking by the operating staff, it also emerged that the holder of the badge had died in 2017: after the death of their disabled relative, the family members did not return to the municipal administration the disabled permit which allows parking in the stalls intended for disabled people. An abuse committed against those who need to use the parking spaces reserved for them.

For this reason “the car was sanctioned for parking in the disabled car park without being entitled to it with the pecuniary sanction” which goes from a minimum of 168 euros up to a maximum of 672 euros in addition to the reduction of 6 points from the license. The improper use of the pass by some drivers who have no need for it represents, as well as a violation, also a violation of the rights of disabled people who must be guaranteed the correct use of the parking spaces reserved for them.

Meanwhile, in Molfetta, in addition to the 6 agents hired on a fixed-term basis starting from last June 1st and for the following four months, others 4 they will enter into service starting from next June 15th: there will therefore be 59 – there were 36 at the beginning of 2023 – the officers on staff, to continue to expand checks across the board.
