Lombardy allocates 800 thousand euros for waterways

On 4 June 2024, the Lombardy Region announced the approval of a resolution of the Council on the agreement with the Interregional Agency for the Po River (Aipo) for strengthen the Po waterway system and connected waterways in the provinces of Cremona and Mantua. Connected to this agreement there is an allocation of 800 thousand euros. The councilor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Franco Lucente, explains that “all the activities covered by the agreement have the aim of improving the navigability conditions of the Po river waterway system and the connected waterways. In particular, to highlight and monitor the critical issues of the governolo basin and to define the best design solution to achieve a conservative recovery of the infrastructure”.

In concrete terms, the agreement schemes provide for the allocation of 746 thousand euros for activities relating to the assignment of the dredging in the stretch of the Po river between Cremona and the Mincio mouth and the maintenance of the Arni 1 dredger in the two-year period 2024-2025 and 75 thousand euros for the control of the governolo basin in the three-year period 2024-2026.
