A woman shared her experience on Facebook.
Recently, in a popular Facebook group that collects reviews of restaurants where you can eat well at affordable prices, a woman, whose identity has been kept anonymous to protect her privacy, recounted her visit to a restaurant in Catania. Here is her message:
“Good evening. I’m posting a place where I was this evening in Catania. Let me start by saying that this is a very renowned fish restaurant (my partner is from Catania) and that at the entrance there is a huge counter of fresh fish, ready to be cooked. In general the place is very popular, so much so that we, who left at 11pm, also saw two other nice large tables arrive a few minutes before, so I recommend making a reservation. The food was really excellent, all fresh and of high quality, if desired there are also lobsters and lobsters that they take directly from that sort of aquarium.”
What did he order, exactly? According to his description, he started with an appetizer that included eleven different varieties: caponata, octopus Luciana, octopus salad, cod, raw prawns, swordfish salad, mussels au gratin, swordfish with onions (saor style), marinated anchovies , couscous and beccafico sardines. Then she continued with two portions of mixed fried calamari and prawns, fresh and not frozen, and two pasta dishes enriched with crab meat, sea urchins and glasswort. To complete the meal, two lemon sorbets (shared as a couple). All this was accompanied by white wine and two bottles of water. How much did it all cost?

The expense was 150 euros, the woman continued on social media writing: “I understand that for many in the group the price may be high, however I felt like recommending it for the high quality of the raw materials and the excellent (in my personal opinion) quality-price ratio”. And below he adds at a later time: “Post scriptum: some commented saying that it was for two and we ate four, “unfortunately” the portions were very generous, and furthermore we are not used to eating a starter, first course, second course and dessert each but we choose either a first course or a second course, as well as the appetizer”.
The responses to the post were of various types, some wrote: “It all looks delicious! For 150 euros for four people with all that fresh fish it seems like a great deal to me.” Others instead commented saying ““Yes, it may be good, but 150 euros is a lot, especially if we consider that in many other places in Catania you can eat well for less.” Or again: “Not everyone can afford to spend that much, even if the quality is high.”
