Clashes in Bologna during evictions, 23 measures for collective members

BOLOGNA – The Bologna police have carried out thirteen precautionary measures of the residence ban in the metropolitan city and nine obligations to report to the judicial police against the activists, aged between 20 and 25, many of whom are students, belonging to the “PLAT – Social Intervention Platform” and “CUA – Autonomous University Collective” for the violent acts reported during the evictions of the illegally occupied properties in via di Corticella number 115 and via San Giacomo number 13, carried out on 6 December 2023. A further provision was issued by the investigating judge of the Juvenile Court of Bologna, at the request of the prosecutor’s office at the Juvenile Court, concerns a minor activist subject to the coercive measure of the ban on participation in public demonstrations. The investigations of the Digos investigators, we read in a police statement, have ascertained that “during the clearance activity of the two buildings, on 6 December 2023, the activists of the collectives promoted an unannounced demonstration in which they participated, at the moment of maximum influx of around one hundred people, including some minor students”. In this context, “the personnel on public order duty, available to support the judicial police activity, were subjected to violent contact by various activists of the “PLAT” and “CUA” collectives who hit the officers with kicks, punches and throwing objects and thereby making themselves responsible, in various capacities, for the crimes of demonstration without prior notification to the Police Commissioner of Bologna, aggravated resistance to a public official, aggravated injuries to the personnel of the Digos of Bologna and the Mobile Units, throwing of dangerous objects, violence private to the detriment of private citizens, interruption of a public service, aggravated damage (including following fire), misrepresentation and incitement to crime”. At the end of the clashes, “11 law enforcement operators (Digos personnel including the Manager and operators of the Mobile Department) who were injured during the public order service sought medical treatment while they were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bologna a total of 33 activists belonging to the aforementioned collectives held, in various capacities, responsible for the aforementioned crimes”. – Photo: Fotogramma Agency – . col3/com 04-Jun-24 11:45
