Anlc Calabria: 136 border dog handlers qualified

With 149 registered participants, and 136 qualifications, si successfully concluded 1st Regional Training Course for border dog handlers and tour operator organized by the National Free Hunting Association – Calabria Regional Secretariat, authorized by the “Agriculture – Agri-food Resources” Department of the Calabria Region, and in compliance with the Ispra opinion.

The course took place at the Hotel – Congress Center “La Principessa” located in Amantea (CS) on 30 and 31 May 2024. The qualification obtained by the participants – the association recalls – is essential to be able to exercise control, of a collective type, in “in turn” mode, as envisaged by the African Swine Fever (ASF) eradication plan of the Calabria Region in order to allow the depopulation of the wild boar species.

They were two very intense days full of teaching and practice which allowed the participants, coming from all over the region, to have the necessary skills to carry out this type of activity. The lessons were carried out by a very high profile teaching staff, with experts also arriving from outside the region. The course was directed by the Educational Director: Dr. Giuseppe Tolisano (Doctor of Forestry and Environmental Sciences).

Those who took part in 80% of the lesson hours (13 hours) were admitted to the exam. The written test consisting of 20 multiple choice quizzes was passed by 136 participants. The certificate delivery ceremony will take place in the next few days.
